Via Spiga does purple right…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 7:10 am

If you go shopping for fall, you are going to notice that purple is the rage this year. Purples in all different shades, different finishes (in shoes and purses) and all different styles are everywhere. I recently stumbled upon these UHMAZING…(yes UHMAZING not just amazing) shoes by Via Spiga. When you put them on your feet you are almost sure you can conquer the world. I know I’m being a drama queen here, but trust me–they really are that hot.

Lauren Conrad’s latest collection gets a thumbs up!

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 8:29 am

The show (”The Hills”) is very irritating…Is it fake, is it real? I guess I’m too old to care. What I do love is the Brady look-alike’s collection. (If you don’t believe me, watch an old episode of the The Brady Bunch, Lauren Conrad looks just like Marcia Brady…) Anyway, Conrad’s collection is for both teeny-bops and for, ahem…older females such as myself. I ordered this shirt and love it:

I also adore this dress:

The prices aren’t too bad…probably a bit higher than they should be for the fabric and such…but, that is pretty standard in today’s market (unfortunately.) I waited to post until I received the shirt and I must admit, it makes me feel a bit like a sassy Roman Goddess….Can’t beat THAT!

One to watch…Christian Francis Roth

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 8:11 am

The Wall Street Journal featured an article titled Fashion’s Latest Comeback Attempt. A 1990s design star is trying to rise again with a new collection. The article talks about Roth, who was a hot designer in the 1990s. He is now trying to make a comeback after high manufacturing costs and a focus on design rather than business caused him to fail. He’s hoping to come back onto the scene like Isaac Misrahi and others who have failed and come back strong. Check out this link to see his past works and to read the full article:

Oh Donna…If only I could afford thee…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 10:34 am

I absolutely love Donna Karan’s designs. She designs the most flattering cuts that women of all different shapes and ages can pull off. I invested in a beautiful black Donna Karan outfit about four years ago and it still makes me feel fabulous when I put it on. (That’s tough to do!! Usually we [women] get sick of an outfit after a season.) She really encapsulates what it is to be feminine:

Must have fall shoes, Manolo and Christian and Gucci OH MY…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 10:22 am

A fellow fashionista called me up recently and told me to jump online to check out the new shoes by Manolo Blahnik…WOW. She was right, these shoes are ultra hot. I am sooo happy to see patent back this season. I was a patent lover when patent wasn’t cool…so, I hope it is forever in style. Check out this shoe:

Also, check out the variations:

Also, I’m in love with the fringe boot. I think if you can pull it off, you should go for it. With a pair of leggings or skinny jeans, these boots would look amazing. The first pair is by Gucci, the second by Christian Louboutin. (I’m not too sure about walking in the Louboutins…but the look is amazing!)

Say I DO in J Crew…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 8:15 am

The post that has received the most comments on styleblab.com is in reference to the Daphne wedding gown at J Crew. I had several women posting and offering to buy it off others because the dress was unique and not too too expensive.

I have looked over the current collection at J Crew and I find the Fontaine gown stunning. I also love the Gracie gown. If I found myself a bride-to-be, these dresses would be top contenders!

Think SEVEN…The must have jean

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 7:43 am

If you only own one pair of jeans, make sure they are the Airbrushed Dojo Jean by Seven for All Mankind:

The fit and comfort just can’t be beat. (Not that I have found anyway.) The only pair of jeans that I own that run a close second are my dark denim pair by Joes Jeans…

LOVE the jewelry…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 2:59 pm

Women are so lucky…Think about it. Men can put on a watch and possibly a ring or necklace or bracelet (some men can pull off more jewelry than others) and that is all they can really do to jazz up a look. Women, however, get to choose earrings, headbands, scarves, necklaces, bracelets, rings, hair clips etc. I remember a professor of mine confiding in me, “Amy–what can I do to add to my look. Women have so many options.” I never really thought about that until he pointed it out to me. I told him about the importance of nice, designer sunglasses, good shoes, and a nice belt. That’s about all I could tell him. Ahhhh, so while shopping at Neiman Marcus yesterday, I was bedazzled by all the options that lie before me in the glass cases. It was like I was an animal lover in a shelter starting at all the cute puppies whimpering, “Take me home…pick me, pick me.” I don’t know how, but I left empty handed. Okay, I bought a shirt at Anne Fontaine…but I didn’t get the jewelry. I’m proud of my restraint; however, I can’t promise I won’t be there next week. (I think I need professional help-I know this.)
Anyway, I’m not really a necklace wearer because, as you already know, you need to pick one “statement piece” to avoid overkill and I LOVE big earrings. So, I don’t usually wear a necklace. But look at how cute these are:

I simply love these earrings by Jose and Maria Barrera:

I know I always go on and on about looking sexy without being sleezy…But, it IS so important. I’ve found another brand that really nails the concept of just enough without going over the edge. Check out some items from Akiko. (I own the tank top and the orange dress is on its way to me):

Worhol Factory X Levi’s X Damien Hirst Collection…yowsa..

Filed under: Uncategorized — Amy @ 2:26 pm

I was recently on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills. I hit some great stores (including my fav, Roberto Cavalli) but, my most exciting purchase was found at Barneys. While shopping on the more affordable level, I ran into a pair of super fun jeans. On the tag, it explains the collection:

Levi’s created the graphics and designs fo the Warhol Factory x Levi’s x Damien Hirst collection utilizing reproductions of original works of art created separately by Andy Warhol and Damien Hirst. While Andy Warhol was alive, he did not collaborate with Damien Hirst…Warhol Factory x Levi’s x Damien Hirst is the nexus between creative and groundbreaking visionaries who, in the purest sense, represent visual and consumer culture.

Without knowing the background of this collection, I fell in love with the design of the jeans. It reminds me of Michael Jackson 80s vibe meets modern day fun and chic. You have to know who you are to wear this collection–as you are wearing art. I know some people are going to think I’m crazy when they see me in these jeans. But, if the shoe fits…
