StyleBlab http://www.styleblab.com/index.php Styleblab.com--Fashion Advice to Help You Look FAB Thu, 28 May 2009 20:41:10 +0000 http://wordpress.org/?v=2.6 en I’m lovin’ me some chiffon (AGAIN)… http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=685 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=685#comments Thu, 28 May 2009 20:40:40 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=685 I can’t help it–chiffon is such a lovely fabric. This is Pink Ice store’s favorite dress…I think it could be one of mine too. This is yet another example of wearing something to an afternoon gathering that no one else will have on. First of all, you have to NOT be scared to show a little leg. That is the beauty of a fabric like chiffon–you can look classy, sexy, and elegant even if you are bearing a shoulder and some leg. Gotta love being a lady!!

Flower Louboutins….ohh baby… http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=680 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=680#comments Thu, 28 May 2009 20:26:06 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=680 So I’m scanning the hot summer styles when I stumbled upon these jaw-dropping heels by Louboutin:

I have the perfect white dress for these shoes…if only they would magically make their way to my closet. These are the type of shoes that you could wear a 20 dollar shirt and a 5 dollar skirt and look like you belong on the set of “Sex and the City.” Yep, some shoes are just that powerful!!!

Make an entrance in CHIFFON http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=671 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=671#comments Sun, 19 Apr 2009 14:27:31 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=671 Wow, if only I had some elegant affair to attend, I would make my entrance in chiffon. I was looking at a gorgeous dress by Mandalay. A stunning yellow silk chiffon dress with silver sequins and multicolor stones and beads. (Page 4 of the new Neiman Marcus “The Book”). However, classic NM, they don’t have it available online yet. Not that I was going to purchase it, but at least I could dream about it and post it on here. Perhaps one of my readers has an elegant affair to attend–this dress would make you the peacock for sure! (A friend of mine educated me on this term. He said if you are a a peacock it means you are the one that stands out in the crowd of women–colorful, different, elegant..I love it.) Anyway, here are some close runner-ups:

BCBG…Be Chic Be Gorgeous!!!!! http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=657 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=657#comments Thu, 09 Apr 2009 23:59:29 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=657 I was in Cancun last month. One particular evening I was heading to a nightclub that was MUCH too young of a crowd and MUCH too packed for me. (FLO RIDA was performing that night…my girlfriend and I didn’t realize that). Anyway, I wore a FAB U LESS white dress from BCBG that night. I knew I’d be the only one in a white dress–so I played it up with curly blonde hair and red lips. Yep, I did get told I looked like Marilyn Monroe at least 20 times that night. My point is (I’m getting to it, I swear) my dress was amazing. When it comes to standing out in the crowd, you have to make sure your ensemble doesn’t blend. I was surrounded by the predictable bubble and strapless dresses. Oh a gray bubble strapless dress with flip flops — that’s original!!! (do you sense my sarcasm?) I was among 7000 people in this club (I know this because the guy who explained to us how to bribe our way into the club told us the population of the sweaty assemblage.) I am not telling a lie when I say three different people approached me the next night, in a different club, telling me that I looked amazing in my white dress the night before…..WOW, now that’s making an impression. I don’t have a picture of the white BCBG dress I wore, but I do have some other favorite picks. What a great night…BCBG “Be Chic Be Gorgeous” (I don’t know if that is what that stands for, but it SHOULD.)

It’s hot bebe!! http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=645 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=645#comments Sat, 31 Jan 2009 15:44:25 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=645 It seems like Bebe is hit or miss when it comes to their clothing. Sometimes when I go in the store, I feel like I need to be a stripper (or at least a waitress at a nightclub) to wear their stuff. However, last time I went into the store, I found a lot of great pieces. Great colors and prints this season…

Somebody buy Cavalli…then tell me how it feels… http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=639 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=639#comments Sun, 11 Jan 2009 00:16:29 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=639 I must admit, feeling the crunch of the economy like everyone else, I’ve had to slow down my shopping in a major way. I really want to wrap myself up in one of these sexy Cavalli dresses; however, for a couple of reasons I can’t do it.. First of all, the money (even ‘Just Cavalli’ costs a pretty penny). Second, I love in a small town in the Midwest and really don’t have anywhere to wear the stuff. I do get to bust out the hot duds when I travel somewhere like Chicago or Vegas–but around here, jeans and a black shirt are the norm (sigh…) I love these dresses. you can find them on www.emoda.com (my fav dress site right now)

EMODA.com. Get “dress”y http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=628 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=628#comments Tue, 30 Dec 2008 17:11:03 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=628 I stumbled upon a great site for dresses…Some are classy, some a bit trashy, some sexy, some sweet and all of those in-between.

Remember the words of the beautiful and glamorous Sophia Loren:

A woman’s dress should be like a barbed-wire fence; serving its purpose without obstructing the view.

Let’s get WARM… http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=621 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=621#comments Tue, 23 Dec 2008 16:18:28 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=621 Thank you for your comments, “B”. Recently, one of my readers pointed out that I have not addressed coats. Since I live in the snowy Midwest, I have picked out a few of my favorite winter coats for this season. For my good friend who lives in sunny Scottsdale, Arizona–you will not be interested. (She informed me her winter wardrobe consists of a “fun scarf” she picked out…lucky her!)

Anyway, if you’re freezing with me and looking for a way to cover up, but still be sexy, consider the following coats. These are all available at Macys: (www.macys.com).

Things have been a bit bland…then CUSTO! http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=611 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=611#comments Fri, 14 Nov 2008 13:42:40 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=611 I’ve been waiting for a brand to excite me. I have my tried and true favorites–Cavalli, Alice + Olivia, and D&G to name a few; but, nothing has really rocked my world lately.

Recently I went to a local boutique in Saginaw, Michigan. I was on a mission to find some nice pants–long enough for my legs AND 4-5 inch heels, when I stumbled upon an awesome brand. I’ve never heard of it before, it is called “Custo Barcelona.” Wow, what great stuff. The dresses I purchased are funky and edgy–but not so much that you feel like you need to go to a nightclub to wear them. This is one of the dresses I purchased: (the other one I could not find online)

Here are some other awesome picks from his line:

I’m just so excited to find something new that isn’t too edgy. Sometimes when designs are funky, you feel like you are a teenage wanna-be. This line is for everyone…

Throw on a CAPE instead of a COAT http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=607 http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=607#comments Tue, 11 Nov 2008 15:40:08 +0000 Amy http://www.styleblab.com/index.php/?p=607 One thing I find frustrating in the fall is how to keep your “look” without ruining it with a coat. I have many sweater shawls that I use as capes; however, these don’t always look good during the day (they have more of an evening appeal.) I began searching online. I found some great buys at Chadwicks. I ordered the following coat in the mink color (black is shown):

This has a 1940s flair to it. (Especially if you pop up the collar.)
Another coat I ordered is called a capelet. I ordered this one in black, just because I wanted it to be very functional. (I do love the black and white pictured below; however, it would match less…)

I like them because they are not your typical boring coat. A little flair is always fab.
